Each congregation collected hundreds of jars of peanut butter to donate to hungry individuals and families, distributed by the Positive Living Fraser Valley program. Think back to the impressive display in the sanctuary. In the end, St. Matt’s was ahead by a wee bit, but a great deal of fun was had by all, and a deserving, community-serving agency was the beneficiary. This year we offer another exciting, no-holds-barred, inter-parish challenge, with the Abbotsford Food Bank as the beneficiary.
You are invited to bring your donations to Peace Lutheran Church every Friday in October, between 10:00 and 12:00 noon. A volunteer from PLC will collect, weigh, and transport the donations to the Food Bank, where a log will be kept of all donations. Your monetary gifts are welcome too, in case you are not able or comfortable with going out shopping for groceries. A volunteer from PLC will do the shopping for you, and the weight of your groceries will be added to our total.
Most needed at the Food Bank: - CANNED fish, meat, soup, vegetables & fruit; - PACKAGED rice, cereal, pasta, flour, sugar, juices, Kraft Dinner, etc.; - BOTTLED peanut butter, jam, spaghetti sauce, salad dressing. - ALSO soaps (hand, dish, laundry), toilet paper, school snacks and treat.
PRIZE: The winning congregation will be hosted by the runner-up congregation to coffee/tea/refreshments when the pandemic permits.
